The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has announced the relocation of the Nigerian Army’s Special Forces School from Buni Yadi, Yobe State, to the 4 Special Forces Command in Doma, Nasarawa State.

Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony of the new school on Friday, Oluyede said the move was a strategic step to provide an ideal environment for training Special Forces personnel with the skills and competences required for their unique missions.

He explained that the relocation would ensure better preparation of troops to safeguard the nation’s territorial integrity in the face of evolving security threats.

“Since assuming office, my resolve has been to provide our Special Forces with the highest quality training, enabling them to compete with their counterparts anywhere in the world,” the COAS said. “We are not just laying foundations today; we are laying the groundwork for a legacy of excellence, bravery, and sacrifice.”

Oluyede pledged to meet the training and equipment needs of personnel to guarantee victory in all operations, stressing that they owed it to Nigerians to succeed in every mission. He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strategic guidance and to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule for his unwavering support to the Army.

Earlier, the Commander of the 4 Special Forces Command, Major General Hilary Nzan, commended the COAS for his proactive decision, noting that the school would enhance operational efficiency and raise the Nigerian Army Special Forces to global standards.

Apart from the school’s foundation, Oluyede also inaugurated the 4 Special Forces Command Headquarters office complex and the Special Forces Officers Mess, projects Nzan described as “uncommon developmental strides” that would be well-utilised and maintained.
