The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the safety of lives and property on highways across Kogi State, declaring that the well-being of citizens and road users will never be compromised.
Kogi Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Kumar Tsukwam, gave the assurance on Wednesday in Lokoja while receiving the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Road Safety Matters, Hon. Suberu John.
Tsukwam emphasized that the primary responsibility of the Corps is to safeguard lives along Nigeria’s highways and road corridors, adding that the visit by the governor’s aide was both timely and commendable.
“Since assuming office as Sector Commander in Kogi, my focus has been on ensuring a safer motoring environment through sustained collaboration with the state government,” he said.
“We are already seeing the results with a marked reduction in road crashes across the state.”
He expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that such engagement would further strengthen the Corps’ resolve to deliver on its mandate.
In his remarks, Hon. Suberu John commended the FRSC for its humanitarian and life-saving services, particularly its prompt response to road emergencies and commitment to minimizing avoidable crashes.
He pledged to deepen collaboration with the Corps, especially in public enlightenment campaigns to promote safer driving practices.
“Our efforts align with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2030, which aims to reduce road traffic crashes and injuries by 50 percent,” the SSA stated.
Hon. Suberu also promised to support the command in capacity-building initiatives, especially in training and public education programs to promote a culture of safety on Kogi’s roads.
