Police Public Relations Office, DSP Timfon John,in a statement explained tha when questioned, Isaac failed to provide any proof of ownership and claimed he had purchased the car from an unnamed individual in Aba, Abia State — a claim he could neither verify nor support with documentation.
But the police were already several steps ahead indicating that preliminary investigation linked the vehicle to a violent armed robbery that took place on 28 February 2025 along Osusu Road in Aba, where the car was forcefully taken at gunpoint from a 48-year-old man. Other personal belongings were also stolen during the attack.
Through inter-state coordination, the victim was located and invited to Akwa Ibom. He immediately identified the car as his and presented original ownership documents, confirming the police’s findings.
Grateful for the swift intervention, the victim lauded the Nigeria Police Force for their professionalism and timely action, describing the recovery of his vehicle as a “miracle.”
The arrest is the latest in a series of proactive operations by the Command, which has intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks and ensure safer communities across the state.
“We will continue to track, intercept, and bring to justice all elements threatening peace and security,” the Command stated.
The suspect remains in custody and is assisting with further investigations, while steps are being taken to reunite the recovered vehicle with its rightful owner.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command urges the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
Together, we can keep Akwa Ibom safe.
