The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has taken personal charge of enforcing the mandatory third-party vehicle insurance directive in Akwa Ibom, following the order of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
CP Azare, accompanied by his team and members of the press, supervised the operation across Uyo metropolis and other parts of the state, ensuring compliance with the insurance policy.
Several vehicles lacking valid third-party insurance were impounded, and owners were given strict warnings against using fraudulent documents.
While engaging with motorists, CP Azare stressed the importance of valid insurance coverage, noting that non-compliance would lead to vehicle impoundment.
He emphasized that the initiative is aimed at enhancing road safety, protecting the public, and maintaining law and order on Akwa Ibom roads.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command assured the public of fair and transparent enforcement, urging vehicle owners, transport unions, and stakeholders to support the initiative for a safer transportation system.
The enforcement exercise will continue across all 31 Local Government Areas, with CP Azare reaffirming the police’s commitment to ensuring full compliance to safeguard the well-being of residents.
