The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away at the age of 90.
Sources confirmed to Daily Post that the revered monarch died in the early hours of Monday, amid activities marking both his 90th birthday and the first anniversary of his coronation.
Oba Olakulehin was officially presented with the staff of office on July 12, 2024, by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, becoming the 43rd Olubadan in the historic lineage of Ibadan traditional rulers.
The monarch’s passing has cast a somber tone over ongoing celebrations, cutting short what was meant to be a festive double milestone—his entry into nonagenarian status and his first year on the throne.
Further announcements are expected from the Oyo State Government and the Olubadan-in-Council regarding burial rites and succession.
