A coalition of young leaders under the Nasarawa Patriotic Youth Alliance (NAPYA) has called on Dr. Ali Silas Agara, former National Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council (ICC), to throw his hat into the ring for the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship election.
The youth leaders, drawn from five local government areas in Nasarawa West Senatorial District—Toto, Nasarawa, Keffi, Karu, and Kokona—unanimously endorsed Agara as the best choice to lead the state into a new era of development and inclusive governance.
In a joint statement issued Tuesday in Lafia and co-signed by Adamu Bashir (Toto), Yahaya Muhammadu-Baba (Nasarawa), Mallam Abubakar Hamza (Keffi), Comrade Kefas Danladi (Karu), and Comrade Muruku Abel (Kokona), the coalition described Dr. Agara as a man of integrity, capacity, and proven public service record.
“Dr. Silas Agara is not just a seasoned administrator, he is a builder of people and institutions. His track record speaks volumes. We firmly believe he is the most qualified and competent leader to take Nasarawa to greater heights in 2027,” the statement read.
They pointed to his distinguished career, which spans over two decades of public service, including his roles as Commissioner, Special Adviser, and Deputy Governor under three successive governors—Abdullahi Adamu, Aliyu Akwe Doma, and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
Currently serving as the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Dr. Agara has been instrumental in empowering Nigerian youth through the “Renewed Hope” youth initiative, providing thousands of jobs and vocational skills across the country.
The group also highlighted his contributions to grassroots sports development, noting his current roles as Chairman of National League One and National President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria.
“He is a visionary who understands both governance and grassroots mobilization. His passion for youth empowerment has already transformed countless lives in Nasarawa and beyond,” they said.
His stint as Federal Commissioner with the National Population Commission (NPC) was also praised for enhancing the state’s demographic and developmental planning capacity.
Beyond politics, the statement lauded Agara’s inclusive style of leadership, citing his fair distribution of federal opportunities, social interventions, and support for education and international training—such as the sponsorship of Nasarawa youths for media studies in China in 2024.
“Dr. Agara does not play ethnic or religious politics. He is a unifier, a bridge-builder, and a silent achiever. Nasarawa needs a tested leader with vision and empathy, not just ambition,” the coalition added.
They urged him to heed the call of the youth and declare his intention to run, stating that Nasarawa deserves a leader with a clean record, broad experience, and a heart for the people.
2027 Nasarawa State“Among all the potential contenders for 2027, none possesses the clarity of purpose, administrative depth, and youth-friendly credentials of Dr. Silas Agara. He is the leader Nasarawa has been waiting for,” they concluded.
