***Highlights numerous projects

SENATOR Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District at the National Assembly in collaboration with Tinubu Support Group is to disburse N300 million as bursary to Kogi State students in the 2025 academic session.
Karimi disclosed this during a Media Parley to mark his second year in office at the National Assembly themed: “2 Years of Impact, Accountability, Progress in Kogi West”, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre on Saturday in Lokoja.
The Distinguished Senator who has concluded plans to extend the bursary award to students from the the three Senatorial Districts of the state said he gave N100 million as bursary award to Kogi West Indigene in 2024.
“In this year, 2025, inshAllah, in solidarity with Tinubu Support Group and Senator Karimi Foundation, I’m going to give 300 million to the people of Kogi State. Not only to Kogi West, but to entire Kogi State students for bursary.
“Tell it to them in the Central. Tell it to them in the East. I’m going to give them bursary award. We have 96 wards in the East. I will give at least 10 slots to them in each ward.
“That will be N96 million. But I will round up that of East to N100 million. So I’ll give N100 million as bursary award to Kogi East students in 2025.
“In the Kogi Central, we have 57 wards. I’m going to give Kogi Central students 10, students per ward and round up their own to 610, that is 61 million. And the rest, 1,390, which is 139 million, will come to my people in Kogi West”, he said.
In same vein, Senator Karimi said he has concluded plans to establish, in collaboration with with Old Students Association of Titcomb College, Egbe (His alma mater), a Computer Based Test (CBT) Center to arrest frustrations being faced by students from Yagba area.
The CBT project, he said will be ready in three months as he assured the people, “by God’s grace, give me three months. Three months, I said, that CBT center will be there.
“Today, I bought, personally, not government money, I bought 275 laptop for that center. I’ve awarded contract of N23.7 million for somebody to put a solar street light there. I’ve done fencing of over N6.5 million.
“I will still buy generator. By the time I complete doing my part on that job, I’m not going to spend less than N150 million. I’m not going to get a return from this. It’s for our people to have a safe place to do their examination.
On his legislative contributions, Senator Karimi said he has in the last two years, presented 11 bills including amendment of the CBN Act which has passed second reading, adding that he also moved about 30 motions within the period.
Karim disclosed that water and electricity projects, facilitating employment opportunities for numerous individual across Ministries, MDAs as well as Military and Paramilitary Services were also attended to
Other projects as enumerated include interventions in road infrastructure to rebuild collapsed Pakuta Bridge, as well as efforts at reducing insecurity through building of Forward Operating Base (FOB) for the Nigerian Army among many others. (Ends)
