Former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has paid glowing tribute to the late Professor Jubril Aminu, describing him as a pathfinder, statesman, and patriot whose contributions to Nigeria’s development will remain indelible.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Senator Mark said Professor Aminu was a man of impeccable character, honour, and distinction who served Nigeria with grace and integrity across multiple spheres of public life.
Special Adviser to Senator, Paul Mumeh in a statement quoted him to have said,
“As a university teacher and administrator, he was exceptional. As a Minister of the Federal Republic, he discharged his duties with honour. And as a Senator, he was a great parliamentarian who stood to be counted when it mattered most,” Senator Mark stated.
Reflecting on their time as colleagues in President Ibrahim Babangida’s cabinet and later in the Senate, Senator Mark lamented the passing of one of Nigeria’s finest intellectuals and public servants.
He noted that whether in the executive or legislative arm, Professor Aminu remained focused on the well-being of Nigerians—working tirelessly to combat poverty, hunger, and disease in a bid to uplift the citizenry.
Describing the late professor as “an uncommon patriot and a brilliant intellectual with a fertile mind,” Senator Mark said his death has created a deep void that will be difficult to fill.
He, however, expressed comfort in the knowledge that Professor Aminu lived a life of purpose and left behind a legacy of selfless service, unwavering patriotism, and unshakable integrity—values that should inspire generations to come.
