Former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, has mourned veteran Nigerian actor, Olu Jacobs, describing him as an embodiment of excellence in Nigeria’s creative industry.
Obi expressed sadness over the death of Jacobs, whose demise was announced by his family on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
In a tribute, Obi said Jacobs made remarkable contributions to the film and creative industry through a career that spanned several decades in Britain and Nigeria.
He described the late actor as a professional whose life reflected talent, discipline and dedication to his craft.
According to Obi, Jacobs’ death is also a reminder that life is temporary and that people must make meaningful contributions to society while they have the opportunity.
He urged Nigerians to give their best in whatever responsibility or profession they find themselves, saying society should benefit from their talents, competence and creativity.
“My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, colleagues and the entire Nigerian creative community,” Obi said.
He prayed that God would give Jacobs’ loved ones and the nation the strength to bear what he described as an irreplaceable loss.
Obi also prayed for the eternal rest of the late actor.
