Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has extended heartfelt greetings to the Muslim community in Edo State, Nigeria, and around the world on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, a sacred celebration of faith, obedience, and sacrifice.

In his message, the Governor reflected on the profound meaning of the festival, urging all Muslims to draw strength from the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), whose story embodies unwavering trust in God.
His Chief Press secretary, Fred Itua in a statement quoted him thus,
“Eid al-Adha teaches us that faith, sacrifice, and compassion are essential to building not just our spiritual lives, but a better society,” Governor Okpebholo said. “It is a moment to give thanks, strengthen family bonds, and show love to others—especially the less fortunate.”

The Governor emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, calling on all residents of Edo State to deepen their commitment to unity, tolerance, and mutual respect.

He also reassured the Muslim faithful of his administration’s firm support for religious freedom, inclusion, and social harmony, noting that the government remains dedicated to creating a state where all can flourish.

“As we celebrate, let us reflect on how we can each contribute to the peace, progress, and prosperity of our communities. Let our shared values unite us,” he added.

Governor Okpebholo called on everyone to celebrate responsibly, remain safety-conscious, and extend the spirit of the season to those in need through acts of kindness and sharing.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Edo State, I wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters a joyful and blessed Eid al-Adha.”
