The Northern Senators Forum (NSF), through its Chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, has expressed profound grief over the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of 22 members of the Kano State sports delegation returning from the National Sports Festival.

In a deeply moving condolence message, Senator Yar’adua described the incident as “a heartbreaking loss not only to Kano State but to the entire nation,” emphasizing that the young athletes and their coaches died in service to their state and country.

“Our hearts are heavy,” he said. “These were vibrant Nigerians who embodied hope, discipline, and excellence. Their dreams were cut short in the most painful way.”

The NSF extended prayers for the souls of the departed and speedy recovery for the injured.
The Forum also called on the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident and recommend measures to prevent similar tragedies.

“This must be a turning point in our national approach to road safety,” Senator Yar’adua stressed.

He further urged the Kano State Government to immortalize the fallen heroes by naming public facilities in their honour. “Let their names be etched in stone. Let future generations remember the price they paid and the dreams they carried for us all,” he added.

The statement ended with a solemn prayer:
“May Almighty Allah grant them eternal rest and strengthen the families and communities they left behind.”
