In a strategic move to bolster its operational effectiveness, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kogi State Command, has successfully trained 262 personnel in advanced weapon handling techniques. This initiative underscores the Corps’ commitment to adapting to evolving security challenges and ensuring the safety of critical national assets.
Commandant Esther Akinlade, in a statement released on Saturday, highlighted the necessity of equipping officers with contemporary skills to counteract the increasing threats to security personnel and national infrastructure. She emphasized that the training is vital for maintaining the Corps’ readiness and professionalism in the face of emerging security dynamics.
The comprehensive six-week training program encompassed rigorous physical conditioning, forensic evaluations, and medical assessments, culminating in a practical shooting range classification. This holistic approach ensures that officers are not only proficient in weapon handling but also uphold the highest standards of discipline and ethical conduct.
Commandant Akinlade commended the personnel for their dedication throughout the training process and urged them to apply their newfound skills judiciously. She reiterated the importance of adhering to the Corps’ operational standards and maintaining a balance between assertiveness and restraint in their duties.
Acknowledging the collaborative efforts that made the training successful, Akinlade expressed gratitude to Brig-Gen. Sidi, the Commander of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and other security agencies for their unwavering support. She also recognized the strategic guidance provided by the Corps’ national leadership under Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi.
This training initiative is part of the NSCDC’s broader strategy to enhance its personnel’s capabilities and ensure a proactive response to the nation’s security challenges.
