The Federal Government has reiterated its resolve to strengthen partnerships with traditional institutions as a strategic approach to drive economic growth and foster social cohesion across Nigeria.
This was the central message delivered by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, during a courtesy visit to the Lamido of Adamawa, His Royal Highness Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, Chairman of the Adamawa State Council of Traditional Rulers.
Speaking through the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, the Minister emphasized that traditional leaders are vital partners in implementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and achieving inclusive development.
Director of Information and Public Relations Mohammed Manga in a statement explained that the visit formed part of activities marking the 2025 Performance Management Retreat for senior management of the Ministry, held in Yola, Adamawa State.
Highlighting government efforts to stabilize the economy, Mr. Edun cited ongoing investments in infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, and fiscal reforms to attract both domestic and foreign investment and improve citizens’ welfare.
He expressed confidence that these reforms would yield long-term benefits and called on traditional rulers to play an active role in supporting these goals at the grassroots.
In his remarks, the Lamido of Adamawa praised the Ministry’s outreach and pledged continued support for national development efforts, especially in Adamawa State.
The visit concluded the 2025 retreat and symbolized a renewed drive for collaborative governance involving traditional institutions as key stakeholders in Nigeria’s economic transformation.
