THE Attah Igala and President Kogi State Traditional Council, Alaji Mathew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa, has conferred the traditional title of “Iganya Attah-Igala” on the current Deputy Speaker, Kogi State State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba.
The revered paramount ruler of the Igala Kingdom who conferred the Chieftaincy title in his palace at Idah on Saturday said the Legislator was recognized for her selfless service to humanity.
Speaking at the reception ceremony, the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly Rt Hon. Umar Yusuf Aliyu thanked the Attah Igala for recognizing their illustrious daughter for this prestigious endowmen.
He described Rt Hon. Egwaba as a dependable ally who has contributed immensely to the development of Kogi State and applauded the people of Ibaji Local Government for producing such a Woman of substance.
The Speaker stressed that Rt Hon. Egwaba is held in high esteem in view of her intelligence, accommodating mien and her constant display of wisdom and courage in approaching issues.
“I want to thank the People of Ibaji for producing an iron lady who survived the political onslaught of 2023. She is a person who I can depend on without any fears of a political coup.
“I must commend the people of Ibaji for their support in making her to succeed. This title is for the current Assembly and she is the one holding it for us.
“On behalf of the management of Kogi State House of Assembly, we want to thank you all for your solidarity and support. With what we have seen so far, we are now challenged to do more”.
Responding, the newly coordinated title holder and Kogi Assembly Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba thanked the Attah Igala for recognizing her contributions and considering her worthy of the title.
She promised to upscale her devotion and commitment by putting in her best towards ensuring that her constituents get the desired dividends of democracy.
“I am highly elated for my conferment as the Iganya Ata-Igala. This Chieftancy title conferred on me is a quick reminder for us not to forget our cultural heritage.
“The preservation of our cultural heritage remains a corner stone for the development of our society. Let’s all join our hands to build Kogi State and Nigeria at large through our rich tradition”, Rt Hon. Egwaba urged.
Meanwhile, the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, has congratulated Rt Hon. Comfort Egwaba, on her coronation as “Iganya” to the revered Igala Traditional Stool by His Royal Majesty, Alaji Mathew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa.
Ina congratulatory message signed by Mrs Uredo Omale, Head, Public Relations and Protocol unit of the Polytechnic, the Rector described the coronation as a rare and prestigious honour.
He said averred that it was not only as a recognition of her commitment to public service and leadership but also a reflection of her deep-rooted integrity, cultural relevance and dedication to the peace, unity and progress of the Igala Kingdom.
Prof. Ogbo Usman stressed that the investiture of “Iganya Atta-Igala” is symbolic of her growing stature and influence not only in the political sphere but also within the traditional and cultural heritage of the people.
The Rector expressed confidence that Rt. Hon. Egwaba would continue to use her position to champion inclusivity and socio-cultural harmony, whilst upholding the sanctity of the throne and the values it represents. (Ends)
