The Edo State Government has appointed renowned entertainer and cultural ambassador, Okoson Solomon—better known as MC Allamano—as Director of Entertainment and Creative Economy in the Edo State Skills Development Agency.
This is seen as a strategic shift aimed at energizing the creative economy and empowering young talent.
The appointment, effective April 15, 2025, marks a bold signal from the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to reposition the state’s entertainment sector as a viable engine for economic growth and youth engagement.
Announced via a statement by Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the post carries the remuneration of a Managing Director in the state public service, reflecting the weight of the role.
MC Allamano’s appointment is more than symbolic—it’s visionary. A multi-talented master of ceremonies, stand-up comedian, show promoter, and influencer, Allamano brings over a decade of hands-on experience in event curation, content development, studio management, and youth mentorship.
Born in Uromi, Edo State, and an alumnus of the Federal Polytechnic Auchi, where he emerged as Best Graduating Student in Art and Design (2010), Allamano is a proven leader in Nigeria’s entertainment ecosystem. He has collaborated with global entities like Jaivy Records in Abuja and Manchester and taught at the Metropolitan Institute of Technology, Benin City.
His rise from grassroots performer to international promoter has earned him multiple accolades, including Cultural Ambassadorial and Excellence Award (2025), MC of the Year (2021), and Nigerian Red Cross Ambassador (2024).
With his new role, Allamano is expected to create platforms that nurture local talent, attract investment into creative enterprises, and link Edo’s cultural assets to global opportunities.
Analysts say the appointment could reshape how state governments engage the creative sector, turning passion into productivity.
“This is not just a political appointment—it’s a statement of intent. Edo is ready to lead in Africa’s creative revolution,” said cultural commentator, Vivian Imasuen.
Stakeholders in the industry are optimistic that his grassroots appeal, industry credibility, and youth-focused drive will catalyze a renaissance in Edo’s entertainment landscape.
