President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the Nigerian Army for their steadfast security operations along the Illela–Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway—a transformative infrastructure initiative under his Renewed Hope Agenda.
The President’s message was delivered by the Honourable Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar during a field visit to the Forward Operations Base Laager in Kebbi State on Thursday.
Personal Assistant on Media & Publicity to the Minister, Mati Ali in a statement explained that the visit was part of a broader operational assessment of military engagements in the North-West.
Quoting the minister, the statement indicated,
“The troops stationed there are responsible for protecting personnel and assets critical to the highway’s construction—a project set to reshape Nigeria’s transport and economic landscape from Sokoto to Lagos.
“Mr. President asked me to come here not just to inspect, but to thank you,” the Minister said.
“He deeply appreciates your courage and commitment. This highway is vital to our national vision, and your presence here is what makes it possible.”
Highlighting the economic significance of the project, the Minister noted that the highway will drastically reduce travel time, link key commercial regions, and create thousands of jobs.
“This road is more than asphalt. It’s a symbol of national unity and development,” he said.
The visit underscored the Defence Ministry’s continued drive to boost troop morale and ensure military synergy with national development efforts.
