In a bold move to revitalize Nigeria’s agricultural sector and drive inclusive economic growth, the Federal Government has partnered with Propcom+, a UK Aid-funded initiative focused on climate-smart and market-driven farming solutions.
The collaboration was sealed during a high-level meeting in Abuja, where the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, received a delegation from Propcom+.
The partnership aims to empower smallholder farmers, expand access to finance and inputs, and strengthen agricultural resilience in the face of climate change and conflict.
Minister Edun emphasized that agriculture remains central to the administration’s economic recovery plan, noting that collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, the African Development Bank, and other partners is already enhancing input distribution and financing across both wet and dry farming seasons.
The director of Information and Public Relations, Muhammed Manga in a statement quoted Edun to have also stressed transparency and accountability, citing biometric-based direct benefit transfers and improved market access initiatives as key to ensuring impact at the grassroots.
Propcom+ Team Lead, Dr. Adiya Ode, pledged the programme’s support for Nigeria’s reform efforts, with a focus on restoring livelihoods in vulnerable regions and building a sustainable food system.
This partnership is expected to accelerate rural development, create jobs, and deepen Nigeria’s economic resilience through agriculture-led transformation.
