The Kogi State House of Assembly has lauded Major General Erema Akerejola for spearheading the construction and asphalting of a 1.6-kilometre access road in Ogori, Kogi Central Senatorial District.
The commendation came after the House unanimously adopted a motion sponsored by Hon. Bode Ogunmola Gemini (PDP–Ogori/Magongo) during plenary in Lokoja.
Presenting the motion, Hon. Ogunmola said the road project, executed by the Nigerian Army through the influence of Maj.-Gen. Akerejola—who serves as Chief of Logistics and hails from Ogori—has transformed access to education and mobility within the community.
“The new road linking the Community Comprehensive High School to the township network has improved daily life for students and residents. This is what quiet, effective leadership looks like,” Ogunmola said.
He praised Akerejola’s humility and patriotism, noting that the retired officer neither sought recognition nor reward, but chose to serve his people with integrity.
“His action is a classic case of power wielded with conscience. It proves that leadership is not about position but about positive impact,” the lawmaker added.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, described the gesture as highly commendable and called on other influential Nigerians to emulate such selfless acts.
“Development doesn’t require noise—it requires intention. Major General Akerejola has shown the way,” the Speaker said.
The House further directed its Clerk, Ahmed Chogudo, to forward a certified resolution to the retired general and notify the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, for official commendation.
