The political crisis in Osun State took a dramatic turn on Wednesday as Rep. Busayo Oluwole Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, officially announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The veteran lawmaker confirmed the decision in Abuja, citing extensive consultations with political associates, friends, and family. “Yes, I have resigned from the PDP along with my supporters at all levels after wide consultations,” he stated.

In a resignation letter dated April 16, 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward 7, Obokun LGA, Rep. Oke formally communicated his exit from the party.

The former Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts and current Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Oke also disclosed that his supporters in parliament and all political appointees under his influence have been instructed to follow suit.

Though he remained silent on his next political destination, he urged his supporters to stay calm and await further directives as consultations continue.
