***500 Personnel Deployed as Kogi’s Role as National Crossroad Comes Into Focus

As millions of Nigerians prepare to travel for the 2025 Easter holidays, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kogi State is gearing up for what may be one of the most intense periods of road activity this year.
With nine states and Abuja converging through Kogi’s vast network of highways, the state often becomes the nerve center of national transit, especially during festive seasons. And with Easter symbolizing movement, reunions, and celebration, the roads are expected to swell with activity.
To meet the moment, the FRSC has deployed 500 personnel, including Special Marshals, supported by 18 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, a motorbike, and a heavy-duty tow truck.
‘Kogi Is a Strategic Nerve Point’
Acting Sector Commander, Samuel Ogundayo, highlighted the state’s unique position: “We are at the heart of it all. Kogi links the North to the South, East to the West. Any serious road safety plan for national holidays must treat Kogi as a priority.”
Ogundayo’s statement, delivered through DRC Oluwakemi Reuben, underscored the urgency: speeding, intoxicated driving, and route violations remain major threats to safety. Recent fatal crashes in the state have made headlines, and the Corps is determined to ensure that Easter 2025 doesn’t join that grim list.
Easter Travel With a Purpose — and a Warning
Beyond enforcement, the command is also banking on public enlightenment, inter-agency collaboration, and mobile court operations to prosecute traffic offenders on the spot.
