SPEAKER of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has charged the Muslim Ummah to imbibe the lessons of patience, charity, good neighbourliness and empathy as they celebrate the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the Eid-El-Fitr.

In a statement signed by his contained in a Press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Lokoja, Speaker Yusuf congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the completion of the religious obligations.

He used the occasion to remind Muslims of the need to always remember and imbibe the lessons of Ramadan including patience, perseverance, charity, generosity, good neighbourliness, empathy, and meekness.

The Speaker described the traits as attributes of a good Muslim, and urged them to sustain them for the development of the State and the nation at large.

Speaker Yusuf noted that it would be counter-productive if the Islamic faithful could assume such traits during the Ramadan period and then lose them after the month, noting the need for them to also sustain the attributes of continuous prayers.

In his words, “While I congratulate fellow Muslims on the celebration of Eid-El-Fitr, this is another opportunity for us all to remind each other about the virtues of Ramadan and the impact of the month-long fast on our lifestyle and our general conduct.

“We must not allow anything to make us lose the grounds we covered during the Holy Month. We must ensure those things that made us models in conduct and utterances, in our approach to issues and the way we process them, are all sustained for the good of the society at large” he stressed.

The Speaker also used the occasion to also congratulate Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr, and prayed to Allah to grant him good health and necessary requisition for the development of the State.

He also congratulated his colleagues in the Assembly for their dedication to legislative duties and prayed to Allah to sustain their efforts in providing the needed legislative wisdom for the growth of Kogi State. (Ends)
