Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has strongly dismissed claims linking him to the All Progressives Congress (APC), warning against toxic political narratives ahead of the Anambra governorship election.
Reacting to reports that his name was mentioned at an APC gathering, Obi made it clear that he has no ties with the ruling party and will never be a member.
“I do not engage in toxic politics, blackmail, or any form of political manipulation. My name should not be associated with such narratives,” Obi said.
He emphasized that political leadership should be based on competence, character, and capacity, rather than party propaganda. Addressing speculations about Valentine Ozigbo, a former PDP candidate now in a different party, Obi stated that all aspirants must be evaluated on merit, not political scheming.
With the Anambra election fast approaching, Obi called on all parties, including his own, to ensure credible primaries devoid of bias or manipulation.
“This election is an opportunity for Nigeria to embrace true democracy, something that still eludes us as a nation,” he added.
He urged stakeholders to reject political toxicity and embrace fair democratic practices, concluding with his signature message: “A new Nigeria is Possible.”
The incident has reignited concerns over rising insecurity, with citizens demanding urgent reforms to curb mob violence and protect innocent lives.
