A public affairs commentator and citizen of Wukari in Taraba State, Danjuma Isaiah, has launched a scathing critique against former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Isaiah condemned Atiku’s recent verbal assault on Senate President Godswill Akpabio, describing it as a desperate attempt to revive his fading political aspirations.
In an open letter made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, Isaiah declared that frustration and bitterness cannot build a nation, highlighting Atiku’s six unsuccessful presidential bids spanning over three decades.
Titled “The Case of Going to Equity Without Clean Hands”**, the letter accused Atiku of using derogatory tactics to stay politically relevant.
Isaiah ridiculed Atiku’s record, claiming that his repeated election failures place him among the most politically rejected figures in Nigeria’s history. He also emphasized the former vice president’s alleged entanglement in corruption, referencing multiple scandals both domestically and internationally.
“Atiku Abubakar, who is shamefully a dominant figure in Nigeria’s corruption history, could have used the Ramadan period to seek atonement for his many monumental sins rather than engaging in malicious defamation,” Isaiah wrote. He accused Atiku of lacking moral authority, pointing to allegations of bribery, embezzlement, and financial misconduct, including a U.S. Senate probe that linked him to illicit fund transfers to his ex-wife, Jennifer Iwenjiora Douglas.
In stark contrast, Isaiah praised Senate President Akpabio as a leader with integrity and an impressive track record of development. He highlighted Akpabio’s transformative governance in Akwa Ibom State, citing landmark projects like the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, which recently hosted the Nigeria-Zimbabwe World Cup qualifier, and Ibom Air, which facilitated the travel of Zimbabwe’s national team.
“What did Atiku do for Adamawa State and Nigeria?” Isaiah challenged, arguing that Atiku’s legacy is tainted by self-serving business ventures rather than tangible contributions to national development.
Isaiah dismissed Atiku’s latest political maneuvers as preparations for yet another failed presidential bid in 2027. He asserted that both Akpabio and President Bola Tinubu are focused on governance and will not be distracted by Atiku’s tactics.
“When 2027 comes, Nigerians will once again reject Atiku and vote for the best candidate,” Isaiah concluded, warning that his persistent electoral defeats have already sealed his fate as a perennial loser in Nigerian politics.
