Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has made a historic announcement, unveiling a new minimum wage of ₦72,500 for civil servants in the state.
The announcement was made at a ceremony held on Monday at the Conference Hall of Government House, Lokoja.
The new wage takes immediate effect and marks a significant step in the state’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare.

Governor Ododo also revealed that the tax burden on the new wage would be suspended for one year, a move aimed at alleviating financial pressure on civil servants.
“We have approved ₦72,500 as the new minimum wage to ease the financial burden on our civil servants, effective immediately,” the governor stated.

This move followed the establishment of wage implementation committees by Kogi and 16 other states, as part of a broader initiative to improve working conditions for civil servants.
Governor Ododo’s administration has been at the forefront of enhancing the state’s economy, with key initiatives in infrastructure, agriculture, and healthcare.
The new wage policy is expected to significantly boost morale and productivity across the state’s workforce.
