To accelerate the implementation of the National Agricultural Growth Scheme – Agro-Pocket (NAGS-AP) initiative, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, is spearheading efforts to revolutionize the country’s agricultural sector following which he recently chaired a high-level meeting with key stakeholders, including representatives from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Flour Mills of Nigeria, and the African Development Bank
Director of Information and Public Relations Mohammed Manga, in a statement said the NAGS-AP program aims to boost agricultural productivity and food production by providing high-quality, adaptable seeds to farmers, particularly during the dry season. This initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on achieving food security and economic growth.
The statement quoted the minister to have emphasized the critical need for an efficient input system during the dry season, particularly stressing the importance of high-quality, adaptable seeds in achieving optimal yields
Edun explained that the NAGS-AP initiative is designed to stimulate increased productivity and higher yields among farmers, ensuring a significant impact on food production and agricultural growth across the country.
