Unisok/UDUS Global Alumni Association to hold Election soon-OmoAgege

Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Global Alumni Association is working round the clock to elect new executives to run the affairs of the global body.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, the president, Regina OmoAgege indicated that so far so good, the global chapter has lived up to it’s bidding within the short time of it’s existence, pointing out that the global chapter is a rallying point where alumni members at home and in the diaspora meet and interact with one another from time to time on issues of mutual benefit to members and the university
The objective of the group is to serve as a rallying point for all those who graduated from the prestigious university scattered all over the globe, “We are a group of people of like minds and very passionate about University of Sokoto as it was then called, now, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.
“Our concern is to do everything within our means to add value  and advance the progress of our alma mater”
The president explained that since the emergence of the global chapter, series of activities have taken place all geared towards making Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto one of the leading universities in Africa and the globe.
On the recent national convention of the alumni association held in sokoto in November 2023,  OmoAgege stated that in line with the constitution and guideline of the alumni body, the global chapter participated actively by sponsoring two of her members into the current executives for the positions of National Vice President 1 and National Publicity Secretary1 respectively. ” We are very happy to have our representatives in the current national leadership of the alumni. Very soon by the grace of Almighty God, our global chapter will make bold statement on the campus for all to see. We are not only credible but formidable, she said.

On the recent interim committee to reposition the alumni body in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, she commended members for their sense of purpose and commitment.
The reunion was put together by the National Vice President 1 , Hajiya Amina Kolo with the support of the Global Chapter President of the alumni association,  Madam Regina OmoAgege.
She expressed her joy that the meeting  brought together alumni members in the federal capital territory who for many years have not had the opportunity to meet, interact and network among themselves.
According to her, the reunion could never have come at a better time than now. “I was overwhelmed with joy when I  met Deputy Inspector General of police (DIG) Habu Sani and other top members of our alumni family at the congress”.
OmoAgege emphasized on the bond that unite members of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, even as she urged the alumni to leverage on valuable connections and network in the interest of the Alma mater.
She is optimistic that with the zeal and determination on the faces of FCT members, UDUS Alumni will set the standard for other alumni associations in Nigeria.
Those appointed to pilot the affairs of the chapter within the next one year include; Barrister Abdullahi A. Albushra, Rabi Garba, Abubakar Usman, Dr Fatima Abdullahi, Aliyu Aminu Bambale and Amina Yahaya

OmoAgege called on them to avoid the pitfalls of the former executives who could not galvanise the chapter to make it vibrant. In her words “It takes two to tango. If the followership was robust enough, Abuja chapter couldn’t have been where it was under the past leadership”
She therefore called on members to rally round the new executives so as to achieve the mandate of the association which is giving back to the university.
The National President of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto Alumni Association Dr Buhari Bello Kware was represented on the occasion  by Adamu  Shuaibu,Assistant National Secretary1. Also in  attendance was Joseph Ode, Assistant National Secretary 2 and other distinguished alumni memebers.
In his speech, the interim chairman Barr. Abdullahi Albushra expressed gratitude for the honour reposed on him and his team and pledged to take Abuja chapter of the alumni to the next level thereby making UDUS Alumni the envy of it’s contemporary nationwide.
