Disability commission carries out National accessibility survey on Infrastructures at MDAs
The National Commission for Persons With Disabilities (NCPWD) led by the Executive Secretary, Mr. James David Lalu has carried out a data collection on some Federal Government Institutions across the 36 States of the federation and the FCT.
The team leader Dr. Adaka Ahon of the Federal University, presented the report of the survey recently in Abuja to Lalu.
A statement by the Head Press and Public Relations Unit, Mbanefo JohnMichaels quoted the Executive Secretary while receiving the report to have congratulated the team for the determination and diligence committed to the assignment.
He, however, indicated that the outcome of the data collated will be circulated to the National University Commission, National Commission for Colleges of Education, National Board for Technical Education for possible intervention by TETfund.
Lalu reiterated that the National University Commission will assist in reviewing the curriculum of higher institutions for an all inclusive content and subject matter.
The exercise he said will form the basis for reference to Education, Health and Economic sectors of the country and will also ensure that special education is integrated in Institutions across the country.
According to the team leader, Dr. Adaka Ahon of Federal University, Lafia, “The sample size of the research was limited to the Economic, Health and Education sectors which consist of the Federal Universities, Federal Colleges of Education, Federal Polytechnics, University Teaching Hospitals and Commercial banks”
He thanked the Executive secretary for reposing such enormous responsibility on them and pledged the willingness of the team to serve the Federal Government’ at any capacity.
The 6 Researchers were drawn from the National Bureau of Statistics, Federal University, Lafia, experts from the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities.
Each of them representing the 6 Geo Political Zones of the Federation.
