The management of Kogi State Specialist Hospital,Lokoja has called for sustained collaboration with media organisations to promote awareness about health activities and programmes in the state.

The Chief Medical Director (CMD), Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Prof Isah Yayaha made the call while playing host to a delegation of the state chapter of Nigeria Association of Women Journalist (NAWOJ) to his office in lokoja recently.

According to him, the collaboration will foster synergy with the media for better healthcare delivery especially in the coverage of health activities.

While describing journalists as the ‘voice for the voiceless’, the CMD charged the media to always be thorough and objective in their reportage. Just as he promised to extend invitation to NAWOJ during free medical outreaches.

Prof Yayaha equally used the forum to commend Governor Yahaya Bello for his contributions towards the successful running of the hospital and for giving him the opportunity to contribute his quota to the enhancement of the health sector in the state.

In her remarks, NAWOJ State Chairperson, Mrs.Ann Olurinde applauded the management of Specialist Hospital for the infrastructural development and for its efforts at attaining a high standard of health care delivery in the state capital.

Represented by association’s secretary, Mrs.Rabi Jibo, the chairperson acknowledged efforts to give the health institution the much needed facelift and boost since the CMD assumed office especially as regards physical development and staff welfare.

She also commended both the government and CMD for the provision of a regular water supply , embarking on the renovation of the hospital and the accreditation of Collage of Medicine in the hospital.Noting that the initiative would enhance the health status of residents.

While praying God to guide the CMD and give him the wisdom to move the hospital to greater heights, Mrs.Olurinde assured the hospital of the groups readiness to collaborate with the management in promoting their activities.
