Rolim College of Hygiene and Health Sciences, in Minna, Niger State has matriculated 150 students of various departments.
The Registrar of the college Alhaji Musa Inuwa Baro administered the oath of matriculation on the new students.
The provost of the institution, Alhaji Alhassan Danjuma Aliyu, charged the matriculating students to always guide against any act that would be inimical to the rules and regulations of the college.
He gave the charge at the second matriculation ceremony of the school held at the Fadikpe campus of the college at the weekend.
The provost explained that the college as a private tertiary institution which specializes in Health related background, has zero tolerance for any act that would be detrimental to the vision in which the institution was established
He noted that the college is tertiary health care training institution established two years ago as a private outfit aimed at complementing government efforts in providing access to education and health care.
This he said is to drive the future development of our communities.
“We have stricklly followed standards, in the admission process which has been our watch word since we came on board thus enabling us to have our matriculating students.
“I join your families friends, and well- wishers to congratulate you on your initiation in to academic life.
“You really deserve everybody’s congratulations” he said.
The provost noted that matriculation ceremony in all institutions of higher learning marks the formal admission of new students into the institution, adding that all new students must participate fully by swearing to the oath of admission and signing the matriculation register before they are regarded as bona-fide students of the institution.
He indicated that the students would now be entitled to all rights and privileges contained therein, warning that such rights and privileges can be withdrawn if the conducts of the students are found to be inimical to the well-being of the institution.
The college, according to the provost has recorded major achievement in infrastructura development, accreditation of seven academic programmes and courses that deal with human lives and facilities that would improve the academic wellbeing of the students.
The college, he observed that apart from struggling to survive in a competitive environment where there are many educational institutions “in our case it has been a Herculean task, for the fact it is mainly health sector driven, health and allied health sciences.” therefore strigent measures are always there by various regulatory bodies”
