A man has pleaded guilty while another pleaded not guilty before the Federal High Court in Lagos over alleged unauthorised access to a First City Monument Bank (FCMB) database. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Gideon Bakpa Aghogho and Oscar Ebere Chukwuwebuka on an eight-count charge involving alleged cybercrime and unlawful supply of bank access credentials. A third suspect, identified as Scott, was also named in the charge but remains at large. The Department of State Services (DSS), Sokoto State Command, has warned of intelligence indicating planned attacks by terrorist and bandit groups on tertiary institutions across the state. The Service said students, lecturers, non-academic staff and their relatives could be at risk of abduction if the plans are carried out. Residents of Muye and more than 30 neighbouring communities in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State have appealed to the Federal Government to provide additional funding to speed up an ongoing N700 million flood-control project. The Village Head of Muye and Amana Kakanda, Alhaji Salihu Mohammad, made the appeal during an inspection of the embankment project being constructed by the National Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC). Former Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, has urged the Nigerian military to intensify efforts to rescue schoolchildren and other victims abducted by insurgents in Southern Borno.
