Ahead of the 2023 general election, Immediate past All Progressives Congress (APC) women leader in Jigawa State Hajiya Hauwa Yusuf Gumel has dump the ruling party in the State for opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Her defection without notice has caused a major stir in the APC camp in the State as they wait with bated breadth for the uncertainty that hovers over the State ahead of the election.National Update checks indicated that, Hajiya Gumel was accompanied by a former commissioner of Information, youth, Sports and Culture under former Governor Sule Lamido’s administration, Alhaji Aminu Muhammad to the residence of the PDP Governorship candidate Mustapha Sule Lamido where she was given a rousing welcome and integrated into the PDP fold.
Lamido (jnr) assured her that she will enjoy all rights and priviledges due to all PDP members.According to the PDP standard bearer in the State, She and her supporters and followers will be received in an elaborate ceremony to formally and officially welcome her to the PDP fold on a later date.
The PDP guber candidate told her that the PDP belongs to all Nigerians. “A party that protect the interest of everyone, and holds women and Youths in high esteem. She is welcome to her home.”
Her defection to PDP has become the talk of the APC in Jigawa as they were amazed and shocked wondering what must have prompted her defection.
