    NIS doles out N4M Cash as relief to deceased family, other Officers

    The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has given out the sum of N4 million as relief for the family of deceased officer who lost his life in active service in Jigawa state.

    Speaking to news men in Dutse at the NIS state command headquarters, the comptroller general Mr Idris Isa Jere said he was in the state personally to condole with the family of Muhammad Abdullahi who died.

    According to him, he is also in the State to check on two other officers who sustained injuries during the encounter with gunmen at Gaaladi/Birniwa axis Nigeria/Niger boarder in Maigatari local government area less than 3/kilometer to Niger republic.

    He said the two injured were also beneficiaries of the cash assistance, adding that NIS is proud of the sacrifice made by Muhammad Abdul the two injured officers and other members of the patrol team.
    According to him it is the duty of the Immigration Service to defend the territorial boader of the country and ensure no miscreants, criminals or unlawful items are allowed to come in to the country, so whoever loses his life or sustains injury in the course of such duty does not die in vain.

    “I’m therefore, in Jigawa to appreciate and honour his gallantry, sacrifice and commitment to the safety and protection of our national territorial integrity.
    Abdullahi Mohammed remains one of our finest gentlemen, a hero and a great patriot. I assure his immediate family that their dear son has not died in vain. On behalf of my Officers and Men, we wish him eternal rest”.

    “I also visited two of his colleagues who sustained some injuries during the attack. They are currently responding to treatment in a medical facility here in Jigawa State. It is important that I state that on assumption of Office, I made staff welfare a critical component of my agenda.

    “This is to ensure that our Officers and Men are accorded decent considerations, dignity and honour in national service. I am committed to this cause.
    “I shall continue to ensure that we take good interest and care in matters such as this that affect all members of our workforce.”

    Mr Jere was full of gratitude to God on how the two injured officers Abba Musa Kiyawa (DSI) and Zubairu Garba (AII)” were responding to treatment saying the service to the security and the welfare of its men.

    According to him, the Nigerian boarder will soon be upstaged as the Immigration Service will soon commenced e-boader patrol to ensure maximum security

    The CG added that, the federal government has approved for the redeployment of CCTV Camera, Drones and other electronic gadgets for the surveillance of the country boarders.

    Mr Isa Jere noted that, the operation of e-boader patrol is money demanding as he called on the federal government to increased their annual budgetary allocation to enable them discharged their duty effectively

    He however appealed to state governments to complement the effort of federal government in the provision of patrol vehicles and other logistic support describing security as a collective responsibility of all three tiers of government and the general public.
