The Kogi State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Hon. Justice Yahaya Adamu, describing his passing as a significant loss to the judiciary and legal community.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the government said the late jurist was widely respected for his unwavering commitment to justice, integrity and the rule of law.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo paid tribute to the deceased, describing him as “a reputable voice in the temple of justice,” whose experience, sound judgment and dedication to fairness left a lasting impact.
According to the governor, Justice Adamu’s legacy of discipline and service will continue to inspire generations of legal practitioners and public servants.
The government noted that efforts were made to ensure he received the best possible medical care during his illness, but he eventually passed on.
Earlier, the State Chief Judge, Josiah Majebi, announced the death in a statement issued by the High Court’s Chief Registrar.
Justice Adamu reportedly died at a teaching hospital in Lokoja after a brief illness and will be buried in accordance with Islamic rites in Igalamela/Odolu.
The state government extended condolences to his family, the judiciary, and all those affected by his passing.
