The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has mourned the passing of Chief Audu Ogbeh, hailing the former Minister of Communications and Agriculture as a towering patriot whose life’s work strengthened Nigeria’s unity, governance, and agricultural transformation.

In a statement issued by its chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, the Forum reflected on Ogbeh’s remarkable journey — from his early days in the Benue State House of Assembly to his rise as one of the country’s most respected statesmen.

“Chief Audu Ogbeh, who passed away at the age of 78, lived a purposeful, impactful life,” Yar’adua said. “He was a forthright Nigerian who always placed the nation’s interest above personal gain, serving with a clear vision to reform and uplift our country.”

The Forum praised Ogbeh’s tenure as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development under President Muhammadu Buhari, particularly his introduction of the Agricultural Inputs Mechanisation and Management Services (AIMMS), a programme that improved transparency and curtailed fraud in agricultural input distribution.

Yar’adua described Ogbeh as “a leader whose vision reached beyond politics into the homes and farmlands of everyday Nigerians,” urging current leaders to embrace his virtues of patriotism, unity, and unwavering commitment to progress.

The NSF prayed for God’s comfort upon his family, the people of Benue State, and all Nigerians grieving the loss of “a true servant-leader whose legacy will continue to inspire generations.”
