ADC Debunks Mark Resignation Rumours, Reaffirms Leadership Stability

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports claiming that its National Chairman, David Mark, has resigned, describing the claims as false and deliberately misleading.
In a statement issued by the party’s media office, the ADC said the reports were fabricated by individuals seeking to create confusion and destabilise its internal structure. It stressed that Mark remains the substantive national chairman, with no indication of resignation from either him or the party leadership.
The party described the allegations as “baseless” and urged the public to disregard what it termed attempts to spread misinformation.
Reaffirming its position, the ADC said its leadership remains united and focused on strengthening democratic values and providing credible political direction to Nigerians. It also warned against efforts to undermine the party, linking such moves to growing political tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, the ADC believes it is facing targeted attempts to weaken its rising influence in the country’s political landscape. The party insisted that such efforts would not succeed, emphasizing its commitment to Nigeria’s multi-party democracy.
It further called on Nigerians to remain confident in its leadership, assuring that internal cohesion remains intact and that it will continue to play an active role in shaping the nation’s political future.
The clarification comes amid increasing political activity and speculation, as parties position themselves ahead of the next general elections.
