Cable Mission Television (CMTV) has taken a major step toward its official launch, unveiling an ambitious vision to become a multi-platform broadcaster with a footprint across Nigeria, Africa and the global media landscape.
The station signalled its readiness for take-off on Tuesday with the commencement of a five-day pre-launch workshop in Abuja aimed at preparing its pioneer workforce for the demands of modern broadcasting.
Opening the training, the Group Managing Director of CMTV, Sir Godfrey Ohuabunwa, said the exercise was more than a technical orientation, describing it as an opportunity to build a common institutional culture before the station goes on air.
According to him, participants must first understand the station’s mission, vision and values before acquiring the practical skills required for television production and newsroom operations.
Ohuabunwa disclosed that CMTV is designed to operate on satellite, terrestrial and digital platforms, with phased expansion plans that will position the station as a credible voice in news, education, public affairs and value-driven programming.
He noted that the station’s pioneer workforce comprises professionals from journalism, administration, management and other fields, making it essential to establish a shared understanding of the organisation’s objectives.
As the training progresses, participants will undergo intensive sessions in television production, newsroom management, broadcast ethics, studio operations, news writing, editing and content production under the supervision of experienced media professionals.
The media executive stressed that credibility would remain the station’s greatest asset, urging participants to uphold the principles of accuracy, fairness and responsible journalism.
He described journalists as society’s gatekeepers whose responsibility extends beyond reporting events to verifying facts, protecting the public interest and promoting ethical standards in the media.
Ohuabunwa encouraged the participants to see themselves as founding builders of the organisation, saying the quality of their work would shape the station’s reputation from its first broadcast.
The five-day programme is expected to provide the professional foundation for CMTV’s official launch and prepare its workforce to deliver competitive, technology-driven broadcasting to audiences within and outside Nigeria.
