The Cocoa Farmers Alliance Association of Africa (COFAAA) has lauded Propcom+ for its steadfast support of Nigeria’s National Cocoa Management Committee (NCMC) and other cocoa stakeholders, boosting sustainable cocoa production and enhancing farmers’ livelihoods across the continent. As part of a major capacity-building initiative, Propcom+ is sponsoring a study tour to Côte d’Ivoire — the world’s leading cocoa producer — for Nigerian cocoa leaders. The tour provides a unique opportunity to observe Côte d’Ivoire’s successes in cocoa governance, sustainability, value-chain development, and EUDR domestication.According to a statement from the COFAAA Media Team, participants will engage with key institutions including the Conseil du Café-Cacao (CCC), Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ivorian chocolate companies, and cocoa cooperatives. The visit aims to provide hands-on insights into farmer empowerment, cooperative efficiency, and sustainable practices.Comrade Adeola Adegoke, COFAAA Global President, described the tour as “a crucial step toward positioning Nigeria as a competitive player in the global cocoa market. It will strengthen NCMC’s operations and inspire practical strategies for sustainable growth.”Côte d’Ivoire currently produces 45% of the world’s cocoa, contributing significantly to Africa’s 70% share of global output. By learning from this model, Nigeria aims to raise Africa’s cocoa production from 70% to 80% within five years, increasing farmers’ incomes and consolidating the continent’s leadership in the cocoa industry. The delegation includes leaders from CFAN, NCMC, NEPC, COPAN, state cocoa agencies, and sustainability experts — all committed to driving a sustainable, inclusive cocoa economy for Africa’s future.
