In a symbolic convergence of Nigeria’s past and present leadership, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Vice President Kashim Shettima will headline the Nigeria Changemakers Award Summit 2025, an event honouring citizens who are redefining leadership through innovation, integrity, and impact.
Set for November 6, 2025, at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess & Suites, Asokoro, Abuja, the summit—organised by the Green Assembly Initiative (GAI)—will gather visionaries, reformers, and industry leaders under the theme, “Honouring Patriots by Recognising Excellence in Leadership and Nation-Building.”
Jonathan will deliver the keynote address, while Shettima chairs the occasion, with Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande Wisdom, serving as Chief Host.
Convener of the summit, Comrade (Dr.) Duke Alamboye K., said the initiative goes beyond mere recognition, describing it as a national movement to rebuild values and inspire responsible leadership.
“We’re celebrating Nigerians who have chosen to do things differently—leaders who act with integrity, drive innovation, and demonstrate that real progress is possible,” Alamboye said. “Even in difficult times, they continue to restore confidence in our national story.”
He explained that the selection process spanned governance, entrepreneurship, technology, real estate, banking, and manufacturing—identifying individuals and organisations whose work strengthens communities and boosts economic resilience.
Alamboye also highlighted the importance of homegrown innovation, citing local automakers such as JAC Motors, Innoson, and GAC Motors as examples of Nigerian enterprises creating solutions tailored to the country’s realities.
“We can’t keep depending on imports when local innovators are delivering world-class results,” he said. “These awards celebrate self-reliance, patriotism, and practical leadership.”
The Changemakers Summit 2025 will feature keynote speeches, interactive panels, and award presentations to exemplary Nigerians in public and private sectors.
Organisers describe it as “a day of honour”—a celebration of patriots whose creativity, courage, and commitment continue to redefine Nigeria’s development narrative and inspire a new generation of changemakers.
