Ododo Urges Kogi Residents to Be “Eyes and Ears” in Battle Against Insecurity

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called on citizens to take ownership of the fight against insecurity by working hand in hand with security agencies through timely intelligence sharing.
Ododo made the charge during a brief stopover at Gegu community in Kogi Local Government Area, where excited residents lined the streets to welcome him back from national engagements. The Governor described their show of unity and warmth as proof that strong community spirit is the foundation of lasting peace.
“Security is everybody’s business. If you see something, say something. Intelligence is the lifeline of security, and every citizen has a role to play,” Ododo told the cheering crowd.
He reminded residents that criminals often thrive where communities stay silent, stressing that vigilance and collaboration could prevent attacks before they happen.
The Governor praised progress recorded so far under Kogi’s security framework but insisted that sustaining it demands continuous public participation. “We will not allow criminals to take shelter among us. My administration remains committed to giving our security agencies the resources and support they need, but intelligence from citizens will always be the game-changer,” he said.
Ododo, who is currently on a working visit to Yagba Federal Constituency after reports of rising security concerns, also appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, and youths to act as the first line of defence, volunteering credible information that can guide security operations.
By turning communities into watchtowers, he added, Kogi could ensure that criminals have nowhere to hide. “Together, we will keep our state safe,” he assured.
