Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed a popular businessman, Aloysius Eze, after abducting him in Abugi, Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Witnesses said the attackers stormed the town on Tuesday evening, shooting sporadically and seizing Eze from his spare parts shop. His body was later found in the outskirts of the community, sparking widespread grief.

Residents described the deceased, known as “Aloy,” as a peace-loving entrepreneur who established the first petrol station and pure water factory in the town, creating jobs and boosting the local economy.
“This is devastating. If someone like Aloy who contributed so much could be killed this way, then nobody is safe,” lamented Baba Yusuf, the community’s youth leader.
In a related incident, armed men on Thursday reportedly hijacked a commercial bus with all passengers on board along Ejiba–Isanlu–Odo-Ere Road in Yagba West LGA, and also killed a motorcyclist on his way to Isanlu.
Police spokesman, SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the Abugi incident, saying the victim was abducted around 8:45 p.m. on September 30 and later found dead. He said investigations are ongoing, adding that details of the Ejiba abduction were still being awaited.
