Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have repelled a terrorist attack in Taraba State, killing two assailants and recovering arms and equipment.

In a statement on Wednesday, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Lt. Umar Muhammad, said the operation followed credible intelligence that bandits were regrouping at Tor-Ikyeghgba village.

“On arrival at the general area, troops made contact with the terrorists along the powerline axis and engaged them with superior firepower, resulting in the neutralisation of two terrorists,” the statement read.

Recovered items include one locally fabricated pistol, two dane guns, three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a Baofeng radio, one motorcycle, and other materials.

Commander of 6 Brigade, Brig. Gen. Kingsley Uwa, commended the troops for their swift response, resilience, and professionalism. He urged them to sustain the momentum and reassured residents that the brigade remains committed to securing Taraba State.

He further appealed to the public to support the ongoing Operation Lafiya Na Kowa by providing timely and credible intelligence to aid the fight against criminality.
