Sule Rallies Kano Journalists at NUJ “Tea Break”, Urges Stronger Bond

Associate Professor of Strategic Communication at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule, has called on journalists to strengthen unity and fraternity in the discharge of their duties for the greater good of society.
Sule, a former Director-General of Media and Public Relations under ex-Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, made the call on Sunday while sponsoring the maiden edition of the Correspondents’ Chapel “Tea Break” at the NUJ Press Centre, Farm Centre, Kano.
He noted that beyond reporting, journalists also need platforms to unwind and bond, stressing that relaxed social interactions foster professional intimacy and collaboration.
“I sponsored this event to give us a chance to socialize, relieve pressure, and strengthen unity. I urge the Chapel leadership to sustain the tempo and keep inviting friends of the media to join,” Sule said.
Former Commissioner of Information and past President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Halilu Baba Dantiye, described Sule as a veteran journalist committed to media welfare, pledging continued support for the Chapel’s initiatives.
Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Murtala Adewale, said the “Tea Break” was designed as a light social platform where members can relax after demanding assignments. He thanked Sule for sponsoring the event and promised to sustain the initiative.
The gathering attracted top media personalities and security spokespersons, including Kano Police PRO SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa; Kano/Jigawa Customs PRO, Tahir Balarabe; NUJ Vice Chairman, Mustapha Gambo; as well as past Chapel leaders now serving in government and academia.
With camaraderie and open dialogue at its core, the “Tea Break” aims to strengthen the bond among journalists while reinforcing their role as watchdogs of society.
