***Await Direction on Succession

Key leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa South Senatorial District have reaffirmed their unwavering support for Governor Abdullahi Sule, vowing to follow his lead on who to back in the 2027 governorship race.

At a meeting in Lafia chaired by former Governor Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, the group declared their unity and readiness to move as a bloc once Sule indicates his preferred candidate. Al-Makura stressed that while every zone has a constitutional right to contest, the governor’s choice will be decisive:
“It is wrong to deny anyone the right to aspire. But we trust Governor Sule to make a choice we will not regret, just as he was chosen through fairness and transparency in 2019,” he said.
APC State Chairman Dr. Aliyu Bello said the show of unity was deliberate:
“We came here to demonstrate that our zone is united. Destiny is greater than ambition, and we are ready to move as one when the governor points the way.”
Governor Sule, speaking as special guest of honour, welcomed the support but cautioned against early politicking:
“Nobody can stop any citizen from contesting—that’s democracy. But my endorsement alone cannot guarantee victory. When the time comes, I will consult widely to ensure the best choice for our state’s future,” he said.
He also promised to personally support the party’s eventual candidate financially without taking money from aspirants.
The meeting was attended by top political figures, including Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, federal and state lawmakers, commissioners, and governorship hopefuls Dr. Joseph Kigbu, Hassan Liman (SAN), and retired IGP Mohammed Adamu.
Sule’s message underscored the need for peace and unity within the party as Nasarawa prepares for 2027: continuity, competence, and collective decision-making will define the APC’s strategy.
