Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has urged security agencies to interrogate ex-Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over his recent claim that the Federal Government was paying bandits.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed dismissed the response issued by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, describing it as inadequate.

“If the office of the NSA would take this statement with levity, then Nuhu Ribadu was never a policeman; he is not a qualified lawyer; he should not be in that office,” he said.

He argued that El-Rufai should be made to write statements to the police and possibly face court over his allegations.

El-Rufai had alleged that both the Federal Government and Kaduna State were providing monthly stipends and food supplies to bandits under what he called a non-kinetic strategy.
He described the initiative as a “kiss-the-bandits” policy.
