***Pushes for Deeper Grassroots Impact
It was a day of renewed hope for local governance in Kogi State as Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo flagged off the distribution of official vehicles to the 21 Local Government Chairmen, reaffirming his administration’s focus on grassroots transformation.
The presentation ceremony, held at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Center, marked a major step in Ododo’s pledge to decentralize development and deliver governance directly to the people.
“These vehicles are not about prestige—they’re engines of progress,” Governor Ododo said. “Let them take you to the people, to the projects, and to the places where service is most needed.”
He urged the chairmen to prioritize rural outreach, monitor community projects, and strengthen essential sectors like education, healthcare, and security.
The Governor also called for stronger collaboration between the chairmen and local council workers to accelerate development at the grassroots.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Ozigi Deedat, described the occasion as a historic first under the current administration.
He lauded the Governor’s transparency and commitment to effective governance, noting that the move would empower local leaders to perform at their best.

ALGON Chairman and Yagba West LGA Chair, Hon. Tosin Olokun, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, expressed profound gratitude. “These vehicles will turbocharge our reach and impact across our local councils,” he said, pledging continued support for the administration.
The event drew a wide audience, including traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and business leaders, all of whom commended Governor Ododo for driving development with bold and practical actions.
