The Kogi State Vigilante Service has arrested a 24-year-old man, Muhammad Babuga, over alleged involvement in kidnapping after a released victim reportedly identified him as a member of the gang.
Babuga was arrested at about 7pm on Thursday in Igabada, a border community between Kogi and Enugu states, following intelligence received by operatives of the service’s Igalamela Command.
The suspect allegedly confessed to belonging to a kidnapping gang, while the victim identified him after being released by the gang following the payment of ransom.

The Kogi State Vigilante Service disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday by its Public Relations Officer, Idris S. Idris.
The Comptroller-General of the service, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Anataku, commended the operatives for the arrest and urged them to sustain the operation against criminal activities.

He also thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his continued support, which he said had boosted the morale of personnel and strengthened the service’s operations.
Anataku appealed to residents to provide security agencies with timely and credible information to help track suspected criminals and prevent further attacks.
The service said photographs of the suspect were attached to its statement.
