A notorious cultist and suspected leader of a serial burglary gang has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in what authorities describe as a major stride in the fight against organized crime.

The arrest, which took place in the early hours of Friday, May 9, 2025, around 3:30 AM, led to the capture of one Ubong Aniefiok Edit, also known by his alias “Maf Fine Face.”
He is believed to be a member of the Mafia Confraternity and the mastermind behind a four-man gang involved in multiple burglary operations along the Idoro Road axis and nearby areas.

In a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the suspect was caught while returning from a burglary operation.
Recovered from him were a generator alternator and a Qlink motorcycle with registration number ONC503QV.

Investigations reveal that the gang has been a menace to residents, frequently targeting homes, shops, and uncompleted buildings in the area.
Their operations, often carried out under the cover of darkness, have left many victims in fear and distress.

The police have launched a manhunt for the three other gang members who remain at large, with the Command assuring the public that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring their capture.

The Command urged citizens to remain security-conscious and cooperate with law enforcement by providing timely information that could aid further arrests.
