    Akwa Ibom Police Engage Stakeholders for Inaugural National Police Day

    The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has kicked off a week-long series of events in commemoration of Nigeria’s maiden National Police Day, focusing on strengthening police-community collaboration and enhancing security measures across the state.

    Led by Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, the celebrations began on Wednesday, April 2, with a high-level security roundtable involving key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, and government officials.
    The discussions centered on fostering a more inclusive and proactive approach to crime prevention.

    The initiative, in line with a presidential directive to recognize the sacrifices and dedication of police officers, is aimed at reinforcing public confidence in law enforcement and promoting community-driven security efforts.
    Speaking at the roundtable, CP Azare expressed gratitude to residents and stakeholders for their participation, emphasizing that this event marked a historic milestone in police-public relations.

    The Command has outlined several activities to commemorate the event, each designed to engage and give back to the community

    One of the activities included a crucial town hall discussion on crime prevention strategies and police-community partnerships.

    A statewide cleanup initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment to promote public health and safety is another phase and Provision of free healthcare services to residents, underscoring the police force’s commitment to community welfare beyond law enforcement.

    Others are School Outreach on Cultism and Social Vices through awareness campaigns in schools to educate youths on the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, and other societal issues and a collaborative fitness event promoting health and unity between officers and the general public.
    CP Azare reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and urged Akwa Ibom residents to actively engage in the scheduled events. “Building a safer and more secure society requires collective effort. We encourage everyone to join us in making this historic celebration meaningful,” he stated.

    The National Police Day celebrations will continue until Monday, April 7, with a strong emphasis on reinforcing the bond between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
    As Nigeria marks this milestone, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command is setting a precedent for inclusive policing and public engagement.
