The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and efficient pension payment system, assuring retirees that they no longer need personal connections or lobbying to receive their entitlements.
The Director-General of the Commission, Mariam Abedo, made this known during a chat with the Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, who paid a courtesy visit to her office in Lokoja.
“Once a retiree’s documentation is complete, their payment is processed without any interference. We currently handle over 200 retirees daily,” Abedo stated.
Abedo emphasized that the government has introduced a technology-driven payment system to ensure fairness, speed, and accuracy in pension disbursement. She noted that the commission has successfully cleared a significant portion of pension arrears, thanks to the state’s dedication to funding retirees’ benefits consistently.
She warned retirees against falling prey to fraudsters who claim they can fast-track payments, stressing that all entitlements are processed strictly on merit.
Abedo commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritizing the welfare of pensioners, assuring them that payments will continue seamlessly as funds are made available.
With the reforms, Kogi retirees can now receive their hard-earned benefits without stress, favoritism, or bureaucratic bottlenecks, marking a new era of accountability in pension administration.
