Abure Led LP Dismisses Allegations of Collusion with APC

The Labour Party(LP) under the leadership of Julius Abure has issued a firm rebuttal to claims that it is working in collaboration with the All Progressives Congress (APC), labeling the accusations as falsehoods aimed at undermining its leadership.
This response followed a recent court ruling affirming Barrister Abure’s position as the party’s national chairman.

In a statement released on Friday, the party addressed remarks from various individuals, including former Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo and the acting Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku.
They alleged that the Labour Party’s legal victories suggest an alliance with the APC.
However, in its rebuttal the LP said
“The narrative being pushed is not only misleading but also a calculated attempt to distract and discredit our leadership,”
The party emphasized its critical stance toward the APC and noted that it has been a strong opposition force since the 2023 elections, where it achieved significant electoral success.

The Labour Party accused the NLC of failing to represent Nigerian workers effectively and suggested that it has engaged in actions that hinder the Labour Party’s growth.
The statement criticized the NLC for allegedly invading party offices and attempting to create a parallel leadership structure.

“The NLC has been the bane of the Labour Party,” the statement asserted, urging the organization to focus on its core responsibilities instead of interfering in party affairs.

Additionally, the Labour Party chose not to engage with Kenneth Okonkwo’s comments, suggesting that his inconsistent statements reflect a lack of understanding of political issues.

In conclusion, the Party reiterated its autonomy and commitment to its members, calling on supporters to disregard the misleading claims from its detractors.
